Jessie Toney
Owner and Lead Designer
Hi there! I’m Jessie, the flower-loving heart behind The Stray Stem, a home-based floral studio in the little town of Monroe, New Hampshire. I’m a SUNY Cobleskill grad with a degree in Plant Science (Floriculture) and I’ve been designing with blooms for over two decades.
After spending 23 years managing a local flower shop, I made the decision to open my own home-based studio. The Stray Stem was born from the desire to create a better work-life balance while continuing to do what I love.
Whenever possible, I grow my own flowers to use in my designs. From planting seeds to harvesting blooms, the process adds a personal and seasonal touch to my work that I truly cherish. There's something incredibly special about designing with flowers you've nurtured from the ground up. My style is deeply inspired by the garden—loose, textured, and ever-changing with the seasons.
I’m lucky to work alongside my husband, Brian. Our two awesome kids and our handsome rescue pup, Willie, are always nearby—keeping things lively and full of love. When I’m not working with flowers, you’ll probably find me coaching basketball, out for a run, hands in the dirt, or just hanging with my family.
The Stray Stem is all about celebrating life’s moments with nature’s beauty—and giving back while we do it. A portion of every sale is donated to dog rescue organizations, because pups deserve happy endings too.
Thanks for stopping by—I’m so glad you’re here!
